Teaching Class with a Remote Student(s)

The instructor may want to consider:

  • Using Zoom “Share Screen” in order for the remote students to see what is projected on the drop-down screen in the classroom;

  • Using descriptive language when pointing at the drop-down screen, letting the remote students know what is being pointed at;

  • On the touch panel or the handheld remote, presetting camera positions to easily move the camera to a desired position, such as the whiteboard.

  • For in-class group discussion, having the group which the remote student is a member of meet on Zoom (breakout rooms) outside the classroom. Their meeting outside the range of the classroom microphone helps avoid audio feedback.
